I started with the idea of making an apple pie, but then I saw these cookies from Mary and I changed the program definitely.

Much better than they may seem, at a first distracted look. They are spectacular, as someone told me after tasting them! And it’s true …

Soft, spicy, rich in pieces of apple and walnuts and very simple: cookies “kneaded” inforna “by ten and praise! I have replaced the hazelnuts of the original recipe with walnuts, because I prefer them paired with apples, but you can put the nuts you prefer. A cup of hot tea or a box to put in your bag to better face a day away from home, they always go well. And endless thanks to Mary and her welcoming piece of virtual world for sharing them!

Apple and walnuts cookies

Original recipe here

Ingredients for about 20 pieces

  • 1 egg
  • 50 g sugar cane
  • 50 g sugar
  •  a pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 80 g sunflower seed oil
  • 50 g walnuts, chopped
  • 250 g all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1 apple
  • sugar to decorate

Put egg, sugar, salt and cinnamon in a bowl and mix with a hand whisk. Add the oil, the walnuts and finally the flour sifted with the yeast. Switch to work with your hands when the dough becomes more full-bodied. Add the peeled and diced apple now. Moisten your hands and make a lot of balls, about as big as a walnut, dip a part in the granulated sugar and lay them down on the baking sheet covered with baking paper, crushing them slightly. Bake in hot oven at 180 ° C for about 20 minutes or until lightly browned. Allow to cool on a wire rack before serving. Keep tightly closed in a tin box and consume within a couple of days.
